Paintings by Dawna Barton are renowned for their impressionistic beauty and mastery of technique. Her sensitivity to nature shows through in fluid strokes of color, capturing the essence of individual elements and translating them into a magical whole.
Dawna attributes her success to long hours of daily painting. "The joy of painting is what motivates me. For me, the actual experience of working is more fulfilling than the result."
Graduating with a degree in graphic design, Dawna worked as a graphic artist in her early career. She was gradually drawn into fine art where she excelled in both watercolor and oil painting. Over the years she has received numerous awards and recognition for her work. She has been Utah Pageant of the Arts, "Artist of the Year", she was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Salt Lake Community College, and the Granite School District offers an art scholarship in her name. She was recently chosen as one of several women who were honored at the state capital in presentation of Utah artists during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Her paintings have influenced the print market for the past 25 years. She is currently publishing with New York Graphic Society, and her prints can be found in almost every country in the world.
Dawna lives in Salt Lake City, Utah where she enthusiastically divides her time between painting, traveling and being a devoted grandmother of 14 grandchildren.
