Park City artist Diane Whitehead breathes life into the wildlife she portrays on canvas with her strong brushstrokes and bold, vivid use of color. She is drawn to the natural beauty and coloring of an animal, a calling that persisted while she studied business in college, but the yearning for the outdoors and painting was too strong to ignore.
Animals are her muse. "The scratch of the paw, pounce of a hoof, gesture of the head, alert ear, quiet stride, powerful shape, ancient wisdom...all comes to play with the shapes I see as I paint."
Whitehead travels throughout the country tracking her inspiration, with Wyoming Montana and Utah her favorite stops. She also shares her talent to help animals by donating her work for animal charity functions in and around Park City.
     Born in Spokane Washington,

the second of 8 children, Diane began painting at the age of 12 when an uncle, who lost his eyesight, gave her his box of oil paints. The solitude of pushing oil paint around on canvas became her most favorite past time.
